The LadyCanes will gain collegiate level coaching experience with the naming of Holly McGovern as the new head coach. Former Hoosac star and MCLA basketball alumn McKenzie Robinson joins Holly as the assistant coach.

Holly McGovern came to MCLA as the head basketball coach in 2005. In 11 seasons, she compiled a 123-164 record. She had five winning seasons, most recently going 14-13 in 2015-16. Under the Westfield State graduate's tenure, the Trailblazers earned their first and only NCAA Division III tournament berth in 2010. MCLA beat Worcester State 68-65 to win the MASCAC Tournament title and then lost 68-47 to NESCAC power Amherst in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Search for the terms 'McKenzie Robinson Hoosac' and prepare to be inundated with hundreds of pictures and articles documenting McKenzie's basketball carer. Just look at these stats:

MCLA Junior- Robinson set the school record with 114 assists last season, She also averaged 7 ppg and started all 24 contests. Scored a career best 13 points in a game with Curry and dished out a career high 9 assists in a win over Fitchburg State

MCLA Sophomore- Appeared in all 26 games last season averaging 3.2 ppg while earning a pair of starts. Scored a season best 8 points in a loss to Utica and again in a loss to Framingham.

MCLA Freshman- Robinson had a season best 13 points in a win over Fitchburg State, while also adding a 10 point performance in a win over Simmons College. Robinson added a season best 5 assists in two occasions vs Salem State and Cobleskill. Robinson appeared in all 27 games for the Trailblazers while logging 5 starts.

Hoosc Valley - Robinson was an All Western Massachusetts First Team selection out of Hoosac Valley High School While at Hoosac, she helped her team win the Western Massachusetts Championship for three consecutive years. During her final two seasons as a Hurricane, she led the team to the State finals.

More Game photos of Hoosac win over Lunenburg. Great qoute from Lunenburg coach on Lady Cane's Press:

"We've seen it. They've seen it, they knew it was coming," Lunenburg coach Frank Greene said of the Hoosac pressure defense. "But it was hard to prepare, it is hard when you actually get out there and do it. They're trapping everywhere and they get their hands on everything."

Foxboro Tournament (2/20 - 2/21)

The LadyCanes lost a close battle to Division 1 Lincoln-Sudbury in game one of the Foxboro tournament. Down 7 -14 at the end of the first quarter, the 'Canes brought the game back to within two points with approximately three minutes of play remaining. It was a tough loss, but very exciting game to watch. The 'Canes bounced back in game two, with a convincing win against division 2 Whitman-Hanson. Fallon Field earned MVP, scoring 16 points in game one, and 20 points in the consolation game. Hoosac Valley improved in rankings by one spot, to number 4 as a result of hard play against difficult opponents.
